A Visit To An Enchanting Flower Garden at Disney World

My family and I love to travel, especially together. I love to garden, both flower and vegetable gardening. If you like to travel or if you enjoy gardening and garden design, I think you might enjoy this post.  These photos were taken at Walt Disney World's EPCOT during the International Flower Festival in the spring of 2011. The theme is Tinkerbell's Pixie Hollow. The fabulous topiary and design elements of the enchanting vignettes, including fairy "houses" are positively awe-inspiring. I am definitely not a photographer and it was over-cast and cloudy, so the pictures don't do the garden justice. I think you can get a pretty good idea of how amazingly beautiful the garden was.                                                                                                      

                                   
                        Some of Tinker Bell's Fairy Friends were there at Pixie Hollow the day we visited.






This is the official "garden" fairy friend, her name is Rosetta. The fellow behind her wing and wearing sunglasses is my son-in-law, Jason. The child standing on the little platform and playing some interactive game is my granddaughter, Sophie, with her mom, my daughter, Stephanie.



What an Awesome Idea for Re-Purposing an Old Kitchen Sifter!


A hot air balloon made by using cotton and the bottom of a gourd. Looks like the top was lined with plastic under the string(in case of rain). Some pom-poms, I believe, were hanging above the gourd-basket. What fairy wouldn't just love to climb aboard this thing and take a ride?!



This adorable little house appears to be composed of a lot of different natural elements. This would   be a great project for kids as well as grown-up kids!
A toy roller skate was employed to construct this fairy house. Note the little mailbox and the rope ladder.

Here, a lid from a crock or pot of some kind was used for the roof of this sweet little dwelling!


And, last but not least, the star of the show herself, Tinker Bell.


Now, I believe some of us gardeners, crafters and DIYers out there could probably put together some pretty imaginative little garden projects using some of these amazing examples as inspiration. What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by. It was good to hear from you. We have been visiting WDW since our oldest daughter, Angela, was a little girl. It has grown a lot since then with the addition of all the different parks. This year would be a great year for you to go with your family because they have expanded Fantasy Land at the Magic Kingdom and I think it is probably very awesome. You can go on You Tube and look up New Fantasy Land at WDW and get an idea how it looks. We are going with our family(our 2 girls and their husbands and children and my youngest daughter's in-laws) and we are very excited about it.If you go, I hope you have a wonderful time. Lynn

How to Make and Use a Stencil Using Cricut Expression

My family and many of my friends know how much I adore French inspired creations and design. The flourish of the curly-cues and curves are so appealing. An image of the Eiffel Tower in any form sets my imagination into high gear. It will come as no surprise to people who know me well that when I feel the desire to get creative, it is often with a French flair. So, when pondering what to make for Joanne, a dear friend of mine, I designed the stenciled pillow covers shown in this post.  I constructed the pillow cover/shams myself from a twin sized white cotton sheet and embellished the opening edges with black grosgrain ribbon before sewing the side seam together. If you prefer not to sew your own, you can purchase a pair and begin from there. Costumes From' "Fashionable Romance Wedding Gowns in Film Exhibition" at Biltmore House

Late last month I shared with readers about a day we spent at Biltmore House and Gardens in Asheville, North Carolina. That post was centered around the beautiful conservatory and gardens at the estate. We had a really great time with our daughter, her husband, our three granddaughters and our dear friends, Larry and Harriette. If you missed that post, you might want to check it out  here .
